First hand applique block

My mini group is making a quilt for the breast cancer auction in September. It is a combination pieced and applique quilt. Here is one of the applique blocks I made. I made four the same. It was made using the freezer template and starch method. It worked really well for me as this was my first HAND applique block. I have done fusible but found this method for hand applique quite easy!

I joined this month's art doll atc  swap on my ATC and paper art doll list. You send two to your partner. The theme was Alice in Wonderland. My favorite! They need to fit in an conventional size ATC  sleeve.
Here they are folded up

Here they are unfolded. One is called 'Off With Her Head', the red queen and the other is called 'Alice'

Some pins I recieved

The girl pin was one I got in the Holiday swap on CDA list. Isn't she cute with her velvet dress and cookie! The little gingerbread man was from last month's pin doll alley swap. He is a cutey too made from clay. My pin doll alley is closing down but I will continue to do pin swaps thru Cloth Doll Artistry list on ning.
